work - heavy
i know i can get too involved with work, talk endless about it and devote a lot of time blogging about it, but this last week, "work" has further infiltrated into my mind after work. I've been very stressed about it. never enjoyed it less and never been been so frustrated with.returning to team work has been very disappointing. my registra's (small boss) very junior and at times seems to be more junior than me.
i can get very worked up just thinking about how badly managed a lot of our patients are. I'm worried about Mrs B's kidneys, Mr A's painful cancer-ridden bones, Mrs P's severe dizziness... my registra doesn't seem to care or know what to do about these problems. I'd been constantly making suggestions. sometimes he'd think about it and then agree for it to go ahead, other times he'd hesitate and say we should wait and see, then i'd receive approval from my consultant (big boss) to me to do as i suggested.
we've only got 14-15 patients at the moment, but i am crazily busy. i have to take care of more things than i'm used/supposed to, cos now i have to be more sharp at detecting arising problems and competent at coming up with solutions since i can't depend on my registra to.
was looking forward to this term to learn some medicine (having only done surgery and emergency so far this year) but it doesn't look like i'm going to. thankfully, i've got another medical term left this year, but by then people would expect me to know more than i would really know. thankfully also, while doing orthopaedics early this year, i had the help of a very conscientious geriatric registra from whom i learnt some good attitude and habits about patient care. i've been adapting her style lately, since i don't really have a registra to lean on.
