what an emotionally draining church service it was today! Pastor Paul's decided not to renew his contract when it comes to an end in June. Having gone thru what is probably one of the worst adolescence, he then used the next 2 decades sharing his experience of Christ's love with those that were going thru what he'd known. So now, understandably he wants to do more studying and then go and do more hands on work in the field. although kinda saw it coming, i was still deeply saddened by this news. and then he encouraged us to pray and focus more on those outside the church. my nose started running...
didn't get a chance to know Paul personally, as much as i would've liked to, except for celebrating the new yr playing PS tennis with him and Will and some occasional quick chats, i really liked him as a pastor and enjoyed his sermons. he's also the first pastor that i've seen coming to this church and leaving it.... now our church'll have to go thru another pastor searching process. but like Paul said, we need to have our faith in God, not anyone else.
a good lunch with some church ppl then helped to cheer me up a bit.
