had an interesting sermon at church today. twas about whether as Christians we feel God's presence or whether we "experience" God. not going to do a summary here, but for me, i learnt that the reason i don't feel God's presence the majority of the time (or as often as i'd like to) is because i'm usually too preoccupied with my own life or whatever's on my mind at the time. God is there, with us, all the time. (Why do we easily accept that God's omnipresent, but not ask if that's so, why can't we feel His presence wherever we are? all the time?) For me, it could be because i'm often too preoccupied with stressing about problems and finding ways to solve them myself. I should direct all this energy & time toward a deep desire to seek God and find peace and solace there with God.

our church bulletin last wk said that as part of our sunday school programs (for the high-schooler) we will have "craft-beading" and "ball game" for this sunday. "naturally, the girls will do the former and the guys the latter" i thougth to myself. But things didn't turn out as quite like that. after service, G suggested that we join the soccer game. (G of all people. the G that said exercise was bad for you.) I was reluctant, hadn't played soccer for at least 10 years, plus it was too sunny for my liking. But somehow, i agreed to played. went home and got changed. played for about 1.5hrs. fortunately, i could manage a few kicks. not far and not always in the direction where i wanted the ball to go, but at least when i flex my knee joint and suddenly extend it so that my foot comes in contact with the ball, the ball would roll forward for a variable amt of distance.

got a pretty good workout. sure, i was out of breath most of the time and wondered if i'd forced myself to do all that gymming for nothing, but i didn't experience any chest pain or palpitations. Decided that i don't mind doing this a bit more often, provided that it's overcast and the team i'm on don't mind losing.
