The last few movies of this holidays
"Out of Africa"(1985) is such a beautiful film. One of the few films that's won Best Picture, Director, Cinematography, Music, Sound, Screen Play, Art-direction, and I can understand why. I only borrowed this film because i wanted to see Redford, since i'd never heard of the film and the word "Africa" made be think of different boring shades of brown. But it was the magnificant shots that shone in the film, not Redford. (In fact, i think Redford was one of the few weaknesses of the film). Cinematography's usually one of the first things that make me like or dislike a film. And "Out of Africa" had gorgeous cinematography. Plus the Wide Screen, the 106cm display and the lulling score, just imagine the experience!! The aero shots were particularly stunning. There was so much space and air, and yet i was holding my breath.then, i watched "Saw".now that's a grotesque film. a stark contrast from "Out of Africa". certainly not a bad film. unpredictable and medically insightful ~ eg people don't just drop dead from a shot to the abdomen. even an abdominal aortic rupture will give you a few minutes left; a cut to the throat may cause heavy bleeding from the jugular veins without killing you; but one question i have is do dark skinned people get pale coloured scars?
Things i learnt are:
- be sensitive to your patients esp those with terminal illnesses
- be nice to the hospital orderly. they might decide to spare your life even if it meant losing theirs.
P, if you are reading this, please bring Saw2 on Wednesday!!
ok, going to watch Shrek 2 now to bring me back my sanity.
