Rules, rules and rules

I want to thank this ED rotation for allowing me the time for a DVD-marathon of 8 DVDs in 4 days (but i've done better).

But having more time at home has its disadvantages. I am breaking more rules everyday. I call them my parents' Chinese medicine, but that's probably being unfair to Chinese medicine. I think most of you know what i am talking about.

just some examples:
- no sitting, exercising, showering or sleeping after a meal. Basically all you can do after each meal is standup and chat (or stare). Washing up is out of the questions. That's too much exercise. i've learnt to manipulate the rules.

- First thing after getting out of bed is drinking a cup of warm water. No, that's the second thing. The first thing always has to be saying "Good morning" to the parents.

- No water immediately before a meal, because water can dilute the stomach juices and cause indigestion. But i can't understand why soup is allowed, cos isn't soup just water + bits of food???

- It follows from the last 2 rules that after your morning cup of warm water, you can't immediately have your breakfast. So go and find something else to do during your morning rush of bed to door.

- When sitting, don't cross your legs (either in the conventional style or the Buddha's style), because this will cause crossing of the nerves in the lower back causing life-long back pain. But doesn't Buddha always sit happily (most of them anyway) with his legs crossed? or is that just nirvana?? alright, should stop here.
