now at the end of week 3, i can say that i've pretty much adjusted to working with this new registrar. last weekend, i thought long and hard about how best to deal with this situation and prayed about it, and now i'm pretty happy with the current state of the politics within the team.
True, it's very different to what i'm used to. ie I feel that i'm making less clinical decisions than i was as an intern. But gastroenterology is the toughest term i've done so far. The patients have multiple problems and are much sicker. So in some ways, i'm slightly glad that, because of the way we work in this team, i'm taking on less responsibilities than before.
So i'm pretty happy with how things are at the moment. I've figured that this registrar isn't mean or anything. He's just a tough boss and wants everything done perfectly, although the way he orders his subordinates is extremely condescending and his manner gives him no credit. And to be fair, he actually teachs, which i do appreciate (um ...although i have noticed that he knows less than he pretends to.)
