made a diagnosis today that my consultant and registar were not convinced of yesterday. the patient presented with only a little bit of history, but the bloods fitted well with what i suspected, except for the main blood test (which i dismissed as lab error but my bosses decided excluded my diagnosis). They decided to pursue a different line of diagnosis, despite that i fact presented my case several times. But i was convinced the clinical pictured fitted with what I was thinking and repeated the test. Loh and behold, it came back confirming what I suspected when we first saw the patient at emergency!! the patient was profoundly hypothyroid!! (under-active thyroid). Now if i was a reg or consultant, they'd have taken me more seriously.
hehe. so happy =)
now, i'm getting a big head. oh well, let me, just for a little while.
